Seachtain na Gaeilge is an international Irish language festival which takes place every year in the lead up to St. Patrick’s Day.
The fortnight-long festival is a celebration of the Irish language, culture and heritage. It encapsulates the pride of the Irish language community and inspires further generations to immerse themselves in our native tongue.
Pupils in schools are encouraged to speak Gaeilge throughout the festival and rewarded with Irish prizes and certificates for doing so. Schools organise games and events ‘as gaeilge’.
Mol an Óige offers a range of SnaG Packs, Irish rewards and resources to support Seachtain na Gaeilge in schools. We have something for primary and secondary school children. SnaG pack usually include Irish stickers, bands, Irish certificates, badges and more.
